The New and Improved Oldboy Pipe Lighter

Many of you have asked about the return of the IM Corona Oldboy pipe lighter and for more information about all the new and improved features. I usually take the expression "new and improved" with a grain of salt but I've found that in the case of the Oldboy the claim is very accurate. Im Corona has improved on the metals used, the finishes and the internal workings. The presentation box is also much nicer and all Oldboy lighters now come with a very nice pouch that also serves as a polishing cloth.

Inside the Oldboy:

Many components that were made of rubber are now made of silicon which do not deteriorate as quickly as rubber. Silicon is also less suceptible to wear from cheap butane and greatly enhances the lighter's leak resistance.

The fill valves have been recessed for less leakage while filling and better fit.

Active Carbon filters have been installed which will help filter contaminents that are found in the cheap fuels that sometimes find thier way into Oldboy lighters. This means fewer clogs and a considerably longer service life for those that use quality butane.

We continue to stress the importance of using high quality, refined butane in your Oldboy lighter. Using cheap butane will eventually clog the active carbon filter.

Outside the Oldboy:

All zinc alloy and composite metal parts have been changed to solid brass which is more durable and holds up to wear and tear longer.

Top caps, flint boxes and bodies are now solid brass.

The flint wheels are stronger.

Fill valves are now deeper.

All finishes are now almost 5x harder which means they are much less susceptible to scratches and wear. On the Vickers Scales of Hardness finishes went from a hardness of 12 to 7 where 1 is the hardness of diamonds and from 675 to a hardness factor of 2850.
